Arnica is generally used topically on the skin and is one of the most popular treatments in complementary medicine. This Journal shows Arnica being effective in pain management by inhibiting nitric oxide production by 4.5 fold. Arnica also reduces the produced result from cyclooxygenase-2  which is an enzyme that cause Inflammation, pain and Fever.

Moreover, Arnica also prevented nuclear translocation of NF-kB which simply means: Arnica prevents the transportation of a specific group of proteins through nuclear pores into the nucleus. This specific group of proteins (NF-kB) help control multiple functions in a cell including the immune & inflammatory responses. Why is it an interesting prevention? Because, according to this report, when these proteins are active for a prolonged period it is reported to have influence in many “….pathological conditions of immune and inflammatory backgrounds, autoimmune diseases, cancer and atherosclerosis.”

This medical Journal concludes evidence suggesting Arnica being more effective than placebo in treating several inflammation conditions, pain management & swelling.

Cypress is made up, in part, of a chemical, named myrcene, which has strong natural anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties. This review shows how Cypress was found to slow the production of inflammatory growth in BV-2 cells (Small neuroglial cells of the central nervous system, originating in the bone marrow) and suppressing the NF-kB pathway. The same study further indicates a reduction of fluid build up, swelling & inflammation with topical application. Cyperus spp.: A Review on Phytochemical Composition, Biological Activity, and Health-Promoting Effects ultimately suggested that Cypress could be a potential new therapeutic tool for the treatment of inflammatory skin disorders. 

Frankincense & Myrrh commonly used in combination to gain their synergetic effects together. However, Frankincense has potent anti-inflammatory effects which blended into Soothing Juggernaut deliver exceptional soothing effects. This study resin from the Boswellia tree contains 4 major acids, among other diverse health benefits. Bergamot is enriched with specific & reproducible effects which “…reach the blood, cross the blood-brain barrier and enter the Central Nervous System following inhalation, dermal application…” according to this study. Pain involves neurons altering their structure and function. This leads to hypersensitivity connected with neurons activated by stimuli, potentially threatening the integrity of our body evoking the conscious sensation of pain.

This review highlights essential oils which contain a naturally occurring chemical, linalool and/or linalyl acetate. In high concentrations, they may offer promising therapeutic treatment in clinical pain. It is noteworthy that Bergamot contains linalool and linalyl-acetate, according to This Journal. The Journal shows Bergamot being capable of reducing pain behavior induced by a higher dose of capsaicin. This is a chemical irritant for mammals, including humans, which produces a sensation of burning in any tissue with which it comes into contact.

Myrrh has been used as a pain killer in ancient times. Studies have identified 3 Sesquiterpenes in Myrrh, 2 of which have pain relieving effects which this study suggests indicate interaction with brain opioid mechanisms. This Study suggests “analgesic activity of C. molmol [Myrrh] extract could be probably due to its bioactive substances that raised pain threshold by depressing pain receptors centrally in the brain”. The same study also offered a 2^nd possible pain relief process of Myrrh. Simply put, it says myrrh can give relief to pain by preventing production of a substance found in many tissues. This substance produces a wide range of effects including pain.

Frankincense and Myrrh are a very powerful and effective team. This Review explains “…effects of the combination seem magically powerful, such as synergistic anti-inflammation, synergistic anticancer, synergistic analgesic, synergistic antibacterial, synergistic blood-activation, and so on.” … “The chemical composition of the combination formed by frankincense and myrrh is different from the chemical composition of the two single-flavor drugs, but it is not a simple addition of the chemical components of the two drugs. The complex physical and chemical changes before and after the combination of frankincense and myrrh make the proportion and content of each component in the compound change to a certain extent.”
